ALCOHOL RESISTANT AQUEOUS FILM FORMING FOAM CONCENTRATE AR –AFFF 3% X 6% UL LISTED
TECHNICAL DATA
3% x 6% AR-AFFF Concentrate, UL Listed is a superior quality and environmentally responsible Alcohol- Resistant Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AR-AFFF) which is to extinguish fires in hydrocarbon fuels. AR-AFFF is used to extinguish hydrocarbon and polar-solvent (water-miscible) fires, fires from a mixture of these fuels, and oxygenated motor fuels. It is suitable for use with foam compatible dry powder extinguishing agents.
3% x 6% AR-AFFF Concentrate with a special biosynthesized polymer. This polymer is designed to fulfill two functions. The first is to form a protective membrane between the fuel and the foam as it contacts the water miscible fuel, making extinguishment possible. The second function is to make the foam more stable and heat resistant, resulting in better burn back resistance
APPLICATION
FC 3% x 6% AR-AFFF is a specially formulated, free flowing, viscous, aqueous film forming foam concentrate. It forms a vapor suppressing aqueous film on hydrocarbon type fuels or a polymeric membrane on polar solvent/water miscible type fuels. FC 3 x 6% AR-AFFF is intended for use at a proportioning rate of 3% (3 parts AR-AFFF to 97 parts water) on hydrocarbon fuels such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel, etc., and on 6% (6 parts AR-AFFF to 94 parts water) polar solvent fuels such as alcohols, ketones, esters, etc. FC 3% x 6% AR-AFFF is specifically formulated for Topside, or Type II and Type III applications.
Used at a 3% proportioning rate on both hydrocarbon and 6% of polar solvent fuels
Suitable for use with either fresh or saltwater
Excellent wetting characteristics when used in combating Class “A” fuel type fires
Suitable for use with fiberglass, polyethylene or stainless steel. AR-AFFF is not compatible with galvanized pipe or fittings in an undiluted form.
Suitable for use on hydrocarbon or polar solvent type fuels
Suitable for use with both air-aspirating foam and standard water fog nozzles
Economized for Topside applications
Recommended application rate is 0.04gpm/sq. ft on hydrocarbons
Recommended application rate is 5LL.min/m2 on methanol
PROPORTIONING
In-line balanced pressures and pump pressure proportioning systems Handling, air-aspirating nozzles with fixed educator pickup tube

FOAM PROPERTIES
Aspirating type discharge devices typically generate expansion ratios between 6-10 to 1 when 3% AR AFFF is mixed with water at the correct ratio. No aspirating type devices will typically generate expansion ratios of between 2-4 to 1. Expansion ratios are dictated by the type of discharge device, flow rate and discharge pressure
STORAGE
Recommended storage environment is between (1.7o C) and (49o C) store product in original shipping containers or tanks designed for product storage. Freezing Point is -5o C.
DISCHARGE DEVICES
Foam Chambers Standard water fog nozzles for handline and monitors Air-aspirating foam nozzles Foam makers for use with either Floating roof storage tanks or Dike/Bund protection systems
RELIABILITY
AR AFFF 3% x 6% UL Listed is produced to rigorous quality control standards to ensure consistent fire performance and excellent product reliability. Fire Chem operates a quality management system, which complies with the requirements of ISO 9001
